Turning a prompt into a character
A prompt like “a lighthouse keeper who is scared of pigeons” is useful because it forces two decisions at once: what they do, and what makes them them. The trick is translating the second half into something visible.
- A nervous character reads through the brows — worried shape, raised slightly.
- A confident one reads through the mouth — a smirk does more than any other single part.
- Age reads through the mouth height and face size far more reliably than through hair colour.
- An outdoor job reads through skin tone and a plain outfit rather than any specific prop.
None of that needs a prop or an accessory, which is the point: a small parts library used deliberately produces more distinct characters than a huge one used at random.
