How to scan a Mii QR code on Switch 2

Connect a compatible camera, open the QR scanner and save a Mii to your console.

This guide is for adding a Mii to the Switch 2 system. Importing that Mii into a particular game is a separate step governed by the game.

What you need

Have an updated Switch 2, a Mii QR image and a compatible USB camera. USB-C cameras connect to the console; standard USB cameras connect through the dock. Nintendo’s own Switch 2 Camera is one example. Nintendo’s Mii support guide documents the requirements and steps below.

Scan the character

  1. Connect your compatible camera.
  2. Open System Settings → Mii → QR Code → Scan QR Code.
  3. Hold the QR image inside the camera’s frame.
  4. When the Mii preview appears, choose Save.

Source checked . If QR Code is missing, use System Update to check for newer console software.

If a code will not scan

  • No camera picture: check the connection and your camera’s Switch 2 compatibility.
  • The image is visible but nothing happens: show the complete square, avoid glare and try moving it farther from the lens so it can focus.
  • The source is a website: confirm the code contains Mii data. A web link, character recipe or account QR is a different kind of code.

These troubleshooting suggestions address common camera and QR-reading problems; they do not certify a third-party generator or any particular legacy QR image.

Does scanning add a Tomodachi Life resident?

Saving a system Mii does not by itself document how a game imports residents. Check the game’s supported creation and sharing options. Our Tomodachi Life tools provide visual designs and planning prompts for manual recreation.

To send your own console character, follow how to share a Switch 2 Mii QR code. For website designs, use a share link or recreation instructions.
